Description | Narrow-necked jar/bottle with an ovate body, flaring neck, rounded rim, 1 strap handle extending from the neck to the body, and a flat base. No molded/modeled additions. The vessel is painted with vertical lines in a geometric pattern around the body in black and white(?). There appears to be a smoothed finish on the exterior and a smoothed finish on the interior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange in color. Evidence of usewear includes soot on the exterior. The catalogue number is written on the bottom of the base and black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "1186." |
