Description | Wooden Katsina doll. The figure is painted with horizontal black and white stripes. The face has downturned eyes and a frowning mouth. Two horns are attached to the top of the head with shreds of corn husk at the ends. Corn husks are also attached at the sides of the head where ears would be. This figure is likely Paiyakyamu, the Gluttonous Hano Clown (Koshare or Koyala). (Colton, H. 1959 #60, Wright, B., 1973 #239) |
