Description | Flat base, slightly curved, expanding side. Painted: stylized parrot heads Cup or 'qero' with a bulging body, no neck/collar, rounded rim, no handles, and a flat base. No molded/modeled additions. The cup is painted tan with two stylized parrot heads in Tihuanaco style. The outlines are painted in black and filled in with white/tan, and red. The vessel appears to have been smoothed with a rotative movement on the exterior and smoothed on the interior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange in color. There are striations visible on the interior and exterior surface. The catalogue number is written on the bottom of the base and black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "765." |
