Description | Palace type sarong (bune tembe asi). A mock tembe sonke, having red-checked ground and stripes of white cotton supplementary thread on back panel. Has apparently been used as a work sarong. All cotton, probably commerical red dye and local indigo. Probably made just post-WWII, in Rasa To'i hamlet (where it was collected) or in Sila. Red, with pink plaid. Dark borders. Back panel dark, with alternating broad and narrow white stripes. Two tears in panel, mended with purple thread. Stains. |
