Description

Depressed body, short neck, everted lip, high vertical loop handle body to lip. Plain black jug without decoration

Narrow-necked jar/bottle with a squat body, flaring neck, rounded rim, 1 strap handle extending from the neck to the body, and a flat base. There are no molded/modeled additions and no decoration. There appears to be a burnished finish on the exterior. The vessel was likely fired in a reducing atmosphere as the surface is black and the interior is gray in color. Fireclouding is present on the body. Evidence of usewear includes surface attrition on the bottom/base. The catalogue number is written on the object in black ink. Black ink on the interior of neck reads: "3118."
