Description | The object is a Pueblo vessel made by artist Sofia Pino Medina (1932-2010) of the Zia Pueblo, just north of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Sofia Medina learned the traditional methods (from digging clay to firing the painted vessel) from her mother Trinidad Medina, herself an accomplished renowed potter. The vessel depicts two Zia roadrunner birds paired with a geometric design of abstract feathers and clouds. |
