Description | Chihuahua Polychrome ware; head chip. Red and brown decoration on buff slip. Globular body with 11 1/2 cm. zonal decoration which is divided into 2 panels containing 2 pairs of triangular areas which are separated by crossing oblique lines. One pair employs the step-fret and the other the scroll. A pottery projection above the rim, measuring 8 cm. high and 11 cm. wide, has a human face with eyes, ears, nose and chin in raised relief, a hole for a mouth, and painted hair, eyebrows, cheek decoration, nose, eyes, ears, chin and whiskers. Narrow straight neck on the half of the orifice to which the projection is not attached. |
