Description | Conical bowl. Coiled construction, carved and painted. Patterns are red, yellow, and white, outlined in burnished black. Inside is terracotta with smudged areas from firing. An eating bowl, for individual portions of sago pudding. Supported by a woven fiber ring when in use. All-over pattern of connected spirals: four large ones near the rim and four somewhat smaller ones near the top. The spirals are textured with tiny punctate dots. Near the rim, between the spirals, are small red and yellow triangular areas filled with concentric crescents. |
