Description | Huipil made of two panels. White plain weave cotton cloth. Entire huipil is heavily brocaded with cotton, silk and wool thread. Animal and geometric forms, design units for horizontal bands. As per Sigrid Meier, "Warp: 36 epi, single ply, Z twist, white cotton. Weft: 26 ppi, two singles, Z twist, white cotton. Balanced plain weave horizontal bands, weft faced plain weave. Supplementary weft is two sided geometric and animal motifs. Two panels, four selvedges each. Woven on a backstrap loom." |
