Description

Flat base, compressed body with four knobs, neck modified by head wearing headdress with black flat, black, two double headed serpents twined around nodes

Narrow-necked jar/bottle with an effigy-anthropomorphic body, effigy-anthropomorphic neck, inward sloping rim, no handles, and a flat base. No molded/modeled additions. There is an effigy figure with nodes (arms?) on side and a two headed serpent wrapped over its shoulders. There appears to be a burnished finish on the exterior. The vessel was likely fired in a reducing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is black and gray in color. The catalogue number is written in black ink. No other numbers are visible on the object.
