Description | "Pottery spindle whorl, hard-baked brown ware, Class IIb stemmed, stem broken off." as per register. Design is six bands made of three parallel lines. Between bands, there are four sections with triangles touching points, making a bow-tie shape, with horizontal lines inside, and two sections where there are three rows of triangles facing each other but not touching. Design bands run along the top of the "bow tie" design sections, not the triangle areas. Concentric lines encircle the inside and outer edge. Seems to have had a stem, but it is now broken or worn off. Flat bottom has a complicated linear pattern with squares, diagonal ladder patterns and triangles, but is not entirely visible, due to breakage. |
