Description | Rim-sherd from a large closed vessel with two knobs just below the rim. Medium textured, pink (7.5-10YR 7/4) clay with a plaer surface with light and dark micaceous inclusions, with decoration in brownish red to brown paint, added red paint and added white paint. Probably wiped with water and burnished. Handmade. Interior unpainted. Band on inside of rim; lines on flat, upper part of rim. Bands above spirals joined by tendrils. Added red: lines on upper rim; band between the two dark bands; dots as filling ornaments between the spirals. Added white: three thin bands on the lower dark band. Surface eroded. Not a local clay body, but probably from Crete. |
