Description

Cap worn by a bride when first entering her husband's house. Strips of plaited coconut fiber covered with cowrie shells, forming cap and extending down back. See Suzanne Greub, ed., Authority and Ornament: Art of the Sepik River, No. 23 for a similar example, with nassa shells.
