Description | Gilded ceramic votive tablet with image of standing Buddha in pointed concentric archways. Figure stands on circular, multi-tiered and waisted throne. Hands are crossed in front of abdomen, right over left. Pointed finial on usnisa. Robes in open mode with right shoulder bare. Robes hang down on each side. Back side has wide black mark on orangish clay surface. No gilding on back and outer edge of tablet. Ayutthaya style, but contemporary. One of Rama III's forty poses for Buddha images, starting at the Bodhi tree. |
