Description | CBS Register: Babylonian seal cylinder, hematite PBS XIV: The worshiping of Martu by a divine attendant. Between them there are a crescent, a sun disk with cross and rays, and a figure of Ishtar with horned mitre holding the caduceus. Other emblems are the crooked stick on his head, probably a symbol of Aba the wife of Martu, an eight pointed star, a fly, a hedgehog or turtle, two goat fishes, a hare, and a small human figure in short tunic striking with his axe two human heads – one is reversed – symbol of victory over enemies achieved by the protection of so many gods. Concave cyl. seal. Hematite, 20 ½ x 10 mm. |
