Description | Considered fake, imitating Etruscan, Greek and Egyptian. A. Candelabrum proper. B Satyr finials. A has 3 feet in from of swans w/ outstretched wings each resting on a spool. Base above is truncated conical with 6 Egyptianizing figures of women set at intervals. Standing on base is a satyr w/kantharos in right hand, supporting a wineskin on head with left. Above satyr is a vertically grooved shaft which supports the top which had originally 4, now 3 candleholders. A second satyr, B, was originally attached to the center, standing on a spool; 1. foot forward, both arms extended from elbows. |
