Description | See AF3202. Cf. Congo Spears, X... The attribution to the Bateke is due to Torday. But see, besides X (Ababwa) the example of a similar (two-barbed) harpoon in George Grenfell...(Johnston), II, 780, which is from the Lokele (junction of Lomami and Ubangi). The head is socketed and fits over end of shaft. The netted band for holding the head is long like that of X; the Lokele example has a shorter contrivance, which seems to be of loosely plaited cords. |
