Description

Flat, wooden Katsina cradle doll. The face is painted blue with bulging eyes. Two symbols are painted below the eyes in yellow and red. Below the symbols, a wide rectangular mouth is bearing teeth. Horns on the sides of the head are painted blue and black. The body is painted white and red with white and blue arms. This figure is likely a variation of a Whipper (Hu) Katsina. (Colton, H. 1959 #14, Wright, B., 1973 #67)
