Description | Plain-weave cotton and silk sari. Green and blue warp threads, reddish brown weft theads forming what is known as "neck of the peacock color." All woven in once piece (borders included). The field of the sari is a balanced plain-weave cotton; the pallu (end piece) stripes created with orange and white silk are weft-faced plain-weave. The red border is a warp-faced plain-weave with narrow yellow and green stripes and supplemental patterning warps in yellow and white. Strip of open warp threads at the edges is frayed. Mended; has holes. |
