Description | Pear-shaped body, slightly expanding neck, collared, two vertical loop handles to body, small black jar, fruit form with "eyes" Narrow-necked jar/bottle with an ovate body, cylindrical neck, rounded rim, 2 strap handles on the body, and a rounded base. No molded/modeled additions. fruit shaped with "eyes" all over body. The body is shaped like a fruit with indentations and "eyes" or seeds all over. There appears to be a burnished finish on the exterior. The vessel was likely fired in a reducing atmosphere with localized oxidation as the ceramic paste is gray and orange in color. Evidence of usewear includes surface attrition on the bottom/base. The catalogue number is written on the object in black ink. Black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "3109." |
