Description | Wooden shaft, long wooden head with 4 sets each of 4 small bone barbs, 3 sets each of 4 long bone barbs, 5 sets each of 4 small wooden barbs, all lashed to point, the lashing and most of the point covered with clay(?) painted red and white. Behind the barbs a section of red and white basketry tubing behind which is a carved section then a section of fibre tubing. This description is of the point of a spear the butt end of which was catalogued by the Academy of Natural Sciences as14479 (97-120-155). The two parts have been reunited and recatalogued under the number 97-120-289. |
