Description | Conical rhyton with high handle and clay rivet at juncture of handle and rim; flat, slightly outturned rim; vertical paring marks on lower part of body. Fine, pink (7.5 YR 7/4) clay with decoration in brown to black paint and added white paint. Wiped with water and burnished. Inside of mouth painted; rim painted; series of friezes, separated by bands: dot band; joined running spirals with solid centers; dot band; joined running spirals with solid centers; dot band; foliate band; three dot bands; vertical row of dots on outside of handle. Added white: tiny dots on centers of spirals; thin bands and dots on dark bands. Restored from sherds; some fragments missing. |
