Description | Flat base, depressed angular body, Y-necked. Red bottle with connected curved handle and spout, handle painted Stirrup necked jug with a carinated body, no neck/collar, rounded rim, 1 stirrup handle on the body, and a flat base. The vessel has a red slip and the stirrup spout is painted white along the sides with black outlines and a black circle and dot decoration. The lugs are also painted white. There appears to be a burnished finish on the exterior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange in color. Evidence of usewear includes surface attrition on the bottom/base. The catalogue number is written on the object in black ink. Black ink on the bottom o f base reads: "2801." |
