Description | Carved spoon made from two pieces of horn. The sheep horn bowl is deeply concave and light in color. The darker colored handle is riveted to the bowl using two copper rivets. Two figures are carved into the handle and have residue in their eyes where abalone shell was likely once inlaid. The lower figure has large eyes, a closed mouth with thick lips, and a thin, pointed nose that curves down into the mouth. A smaller head is carved above this and likely represents a whale. |
