Description | Flat bottle with a face, arms in full relief. Hands of figure raised to head Face-neck vessel. Narrow-necked jug with a lentoid body, flaring neck, rounded rim, 1 strap handle extending from the neck to the body, and a flat base. The vessel is red slipped and painted with a fish and circles in white with black outlines on the front. The neck is decorated with a mold made monkey head with modeled ear spools and modeled arms holding the head. There appears to be a smoothed finish on the exterior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange in color. The catalogue number is written on the object in black ink on the bottom of the base. Black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "3298." |
